2013 Models Equipped with New Features

If you’ve been holding off on buying a new car, you won’t find a model on the Arnie Bauer lot that isn’t equipped with innovative technology.

edmunds Inside Line recently evaluated the new features that will be available on the 2013 vehicles, calling this model-period “a watershed year for new tech features.” While many of these features are only available on one or two models for 2013, they will most likely be implemented in future vehicles.

Let’s take a look at the new features that will be available on 2013 Cadillacs, GMCs and/or Buicks:

  • Safety Alert Seat: Cadillac is introducing the Safety Alert Seat that vibrates on the side of the driver’s seat that aligns with the threat. If you get to close to the car in front of you, the entire seat will vibrate. The system was tested by edmunds Inside Line and they found that it has been properly calibrated for urban traffic. This new feature will be part of the Driver Assist package on 2013 Cadillac ATS, SRX and XTS models.
  • Back-up collision intervention system: Rear sonar and back-up cameras aren’t new, but when they are paired with the right package, they can apply the brakes automatically to help you avoid collision with a car, object or pedestrian. This system will be available on 2013 Cadillac ATS, SRX and XTS models.
  • Center side airbag for front occupants: The family crossover is chock full of airbags, but General Motors thought one more was necessary. The 2013 Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia will be equipped with a front center airbag that will deploy from the inboard side of the drivers seat. It’s been added to help keep the driver upright in case of an accident and prevents the driver and front-seat passenger from knocking into each other.
