2014 CTS Named Motor Trend’s Car of the Year

CTSMotor Trend recently announced their selection of Car of the Year, and this year the 2014 Cadillac CTS Sedan is taking away the coveted title. This is the second time the Cadillac CTS is taking home the award in the past six years, and this will be the fourth win Cadillac itself has collected since Motor Trend handed out the first Car of the Year award back in 1949.

The new CTS beat out seven other finalists for the title including the Jaguar F-type, Mazda 3 and 6, Kia Forte, Mercedes S-Class, BMW 4 series, and the new Corvette Stingray. The new Corvette Stingray was a heavy favorite, but Motor Trend made the decision after ten days of test driving the vehicle and a few more days of discussion that the Cadillac CTS was clearly the winner.

“The vehicle is lighter but yet bigger than the previous generation. It’s over 250 pounds lighter than the others in the class and that influences everything, the way it drives, fuel efficiency,” said Motor Trend Editor in Chief Ed Loh.

This accolade was awarded to Cadillac the first year Motor Trend handed out its prestigious Car of the Year title back in 1949. The most recent win of the 2014 Cadillac CTS Sedan is drawing attention to the luxury vehicle which has a base price of $46,000.
