2017 GMC Acadia All Terrain Test

2017 Gmc Acadia

The 2017 GMC Acadia now shares the C1XX platform found in the Cadillac XT5, and test-drivers are already picking up on the improved driving dynamics resulting from the lightweight and highly flexible platform.

A bit of room has been sacrificed due to the switch, shedding 740 pounds as the 2017 Acadia went from a full-size eight-passenger to a mid-size crossover that can seat 5 in its All Terrain trim.

“Being smaller makes it more nimble and better able to grip the road,” wrote Alisa Priddle for Motor Trend. “It sops up uneven surfaces.”

And for Priddle, the new Acadia All Terrain’s improved ability to gel with any surface played a key role in making her recent test drive a success as rain drenched the streets of Washington, D.C., during her excursion. Behind the wheel of this 3.6L four-cylinder, Priddle was able to go from 0-to-60 in only 6.7 seconds—a vast improvement from when she’d last driven an Acadia in 2007 (then, it took 8.2 seconds to accomplish the feat).

“The new Acadia All Terrain is also faster than the 2017 Mazda CX-9 Signature,” recalled Priddle, citing that the CX-9 and even the 2017 Toyota Highlander both took over seven seconds each to accomplish the same task. “This is a good daily driver for whatever your lifestyle all seven days of the week,” she wrapped.

That practicality is supported in the Acadia All Terrain by a comfortable yet sporty interior that features bold, butterscotch seating and dash stitching. Additionally, the five-seater leaves plenty of leg room for those in the second row while also boasting a very spacious trunk thanks to the exclusion of a third row of seating and smart underfloor bins.

The Acadia All Terrain starts at just under $40,000 and is rated for 18mpg in the city and 25mpg on the highway.
