Buick’s 2013 Line Receives Top Safety Pick
Buick’s full line of 2013 models are all Top Safety Picks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, making Buick one of only a few brands to have achieved this. Buick is proud to say that the Encore received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for safety from National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.
Other Buick models receiving the 5-star rating include Verano, Enclave, and LaCrosse. Safety is key in your vehicle, since after all it does serve the purpose to protect when you and your family are on the go. The IIHS conducts tests of vehicles in four different areas: occupant protection in front, side, and rollover crashes, and the institute also tests the seats and head restraints for head protection in rear impact crashes. Receiving the title of Top Safety Pick requires vehicles to receive a rating of “good” on all four of the tests. Similarly, the NHTSA tests vehicles through front, side, and rollover testing. NHTSA also conducts a side pole test to see how a vehicle going 20 mph can handle hitting a 10-inch-diameter pole or a tree at a 75-degree angle.
Encore’s 5-Star Score clearly comes from its safety focused design. According to GM, the body structure is made up of more than 60% high-strength steel that provides a “protective safety cage” for driver and passengers inside the vehicle. The Encore also has StabiliTrak electronic stability control, panic brake override feature, 10 standard air bags, and a standard Rear Vision Camera. Other optional safety features include Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning. Buick has a winning lineup of Top Safety Picks, check out or test drive all luxurious models at Arnie Bauer.
