Cadillac Unveils the ELR at North American International Auto Show
Today, Cadillac unveiled the long anticipated ELR at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This is the first extended-range electric vehicle technology that has been introduced by a luxury automotive brand.
“ELR is an unprecedented combination of luxury, advanced engineering and progressive design in a coupe that is both sporty and environmentally friendly,” said Bob Ferguson, Cadillac global vice president, said in a statement. “This is a pivotal moment in Cadillac’s history, as we continue our product-driven expansion.”
The ELR is based on the Converj Concept, with an exterior that establishes a new, progressive proportion for the Cadillac brand. The interior also offers a new design that will define future models from the automakers. The electric technology will exceed 300 miles in driving range, combining electric driving with a range-extending generator.
The ELR will start production later this year in the United States and sales will start early in 2014. We here at Arnie Bauer are sad we have to wait to see this beauty in person. In the meantime, come down to visit and test drive our 2013 models.
