Millennials may be known for their unabashed love of avocado toast and yoga but did you know that millennials are also a major driving force behind GMC truck sales? That’s right, the oft-maligned younger generation is responsible for pushing sales at GMC dealers near you through the roof.

The GMC Sierra is the fourth best-selling pickup in the United States (following the Ford F-150, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and FCA’s RAM line of pickups) and many of the drivers you’ll find behind the wheel of those trucks are members of the millennial generation. In fact, AutoTrader found that millennials buy GMC Sierra HD trucks more than the overall buying populace.

So what draws millennials to the GMC Sierra truck? Obviously, there’s lots to love about the Sierra but the vehicle’s raw power is probably high up on the list. The Sierra is available with three different engines across its various trim levels: one V6 and two V8s.

The standard base Sierra 1500 model, for example, comes with the 285-horsepower 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6 engine. Meanwhile, the Sierra 1500 SLT and Denali trims come with a 355-hp 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8.

The V8 is a fan favorite thanks to its ability to generate up to 383 lb-ft of torque. Naturally, it’s the 420-hp 6.2L EcoTec3 V6 engine (available only with the SLT or Denali trims) that really blows minds. The 6.2L V6 generates an insane 460 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm.

All three available engines come with aluminum blocks, active fuel management, direct fuel injection and variable valve timing.

But, obviously, it’s the Sierra’s unmatched suite of tech features that keep millennials talking.

GMC’s Infotainment System is available in different levels across the Sierra’s trim options but every version combines entertainment and superb phone/text connectivity to ensure that drivers and passengers are never more than a button away from their friends and family. The Sierra comes with on-the-road navigation, OnStar services and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot that can connect with up to seven devices at the same time.

The Sierra also comes with best-in-class tech safety features like GMC’s fantastic Rear Seat Reminder system. Audio and visual reminders alert drivers to the presence of rear seat passengers to prevent children or pets from being left behind in the back of the car. All Sierra trucks are also outfitted with GM’s Teen Driver system so that parents can set limits for their teen drivers and turn on notifications for speeding alerts.
