GMC All-Mountain Concept Has Us Ready for Winter Weather
The kind of snow that would cripple most cars is a playground for the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD All Mountain Concept. That became crystal clear with its November debut at Vail Mountain in Colorado.
Upon seeing this extraordinary automobile, everyone’s attention was immediately captured by its wheels.
Instead of tires, the All-Mountain Concept was outfitted with Mattracks® 150 Series Tracks—something that looks as if it would ordinarily be seen on snowplows, tanks or bulldozers. It provides an extra lift and the ability to speed across mountainous terrains, such as banks of powdery snow.
But what’s really impressive lies beneath the hood of this intimidating truck. To power something so large aimed at conquering mountains, the motor had to be more than just muscular—it had to perform at the top of its class.
This is why the Duramax V8, which made its debut in the 2017 Silverado HD and can currently be found in the Sierra HD trucks, was chosen. Alongside the 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 is an Allison® 1000 six-speed automatic transmission, providing this monstrous machine with 445 horsepower and a massive 910 pound-feet of torque.
Built on a GMC Sierra 2500HD based on the Denali trim, the All-Mountain Concept has a wide array of features, from the distinctive exterior graphics and Thule snowboard racks to the luxurious leather seats, Bose audio system with an Amplifier and Dual Pod Speaker Kit by KICKER.
“With GMC’s focus on premium capability and design, we wanted to ensure that this concept took these signature attributes to an entirely new level,” Carl Zipfel, a GMC exterior designer, said. “The Sierra All Mountain concept Mattracks® technology enables the truck to conquer uncharted territory while highlighting premium interior features such as Bose speakers and upscale leather treatments.”
This truck won’t be coming to a GMC dealer near me, as it is just a concept, but its close relative, the Sierra 2500HD Denali, is currently available. Also available are the many useful and enhanced accessories. Just call a GMC dealer, such as us at Arnie Bauer, and you can get any of the following accessories:
- Thule hitch-mounted ski or bike carrier
- Front and rear premium floor liners
- Three-inch off-road step bars
- Advantage’s soft roll-up tonneau cover
- Sierra-branded sport bar
- Bed extender by Lund
We are excited about GMC’s partnership with Vail Resorts, Inc. not only because it brought us this exciting vehicle (which will be on display for the rest of the winter at Vail), but because it is a relationship that inspired GMC to reach for new heights.
