GMC Sierra Holds its Own Among Competitors
The new 2014 GMC Sierra Crew Cab is showing off a bold new look and giving competitors a reason to talk. The redesigned pickup is packing power and a load of upgrades giving consumers another option to consider in the world of heavy duty vehicles.
With the housing industry trending back upwards and revived construction opportunities, pickup trucks are hot commodities. Consumers have plenty of choices when it comes to pickups, and U.S. automakers are keeping the competition hot.
Foreign automakers like Toyota and Nissan have attempted to break into the U.S. pickup market, but have struggled matching the popularity and success of domestic brands. Two of the top contenders of the GMC Sierra are Ford’s popular F-150 and Chrysler’s Ram. Although the F-150 is anticipated to show a new design in 2015 the 2013 Ram is showing an updated look this year. GMC has definitely equipped the Sierra with the tools to hold its own amongst this group.
Starting with better fuel economy the redesigned Sierra has an improved 16 mpg/22 highway which is a vast improvement when boasting a 5.3 liter V-8 engine with direct injection and cylinder deactivation. These features along with a lower overall curb weight help improve performance and lower fuel usage. Better fuel economy doesn’t mean less power when it comes to the Sierra. The 1500 4WD Cab SLT packs a 9600 lbs. towing capacity that can easily tow most boats or trailers.
The Sierra’s interior has also received an upgraded look. Optional packages offer luxuries like a heated steering wheel, power sliding rear window, power sunroof, and audio/navigation system with 8-inch display touch screen. Rich leather upholstery in the truck’s cab covers the heated and cooled front bucket seats. These luxuries also come with safety add-ons as well like front and rear parking assist, and a driver alert seat feature that warns drivers with a vibration if a collision is detected when parking.
With all of these upgrades and additions the 2014 GMC Sierra has been redesigned with consumers in mind, and holds its own among competitors.
