Meet the Cadillac ELR

The Cadillac ELR

American Batmobile

Chevrolet and Cadillac are continuing to blaze a trail for electric cars and the Cadillac ELR is one of the most recent endeavors in this project. Running on the Voltec platform seen in the Chevy Volt, the Cadillac ELR introduces luxury to electric. The $76,000 base price tag means you get your choice of top-notch Cadillac touches, such as intelligent headlights, adaptive cruise control, rain sense and more. While happily cruising past gas stations since the ELR can provide 37 miles of pure electric range and 340 miles of combined electric-gas range.

One reviewer who’s owned the car for over a year says that the ELR is clearly a product of over 100 years of automotive innovation and its interior is as luxurious as any other Cadillac. With a design that ties together wood, suede, leather and carbon fiber plus an infotainment system that can greet you every time you enter the car, the ELR is something like a futuristic dream. The reviewer describes the design of the ELR to be something like an American Batmobile with its sleek exterior, high-tech features yet classic, Cadillac style, such as the extended taillights inspired by Cadillac fins from the 1950s. He calls the four-seater coupe a “piece of artwork inside and out” and we couldn’t agree more.

The Voltec drivetrain delivers power and efficiency, and the gas engine is barely noticeable when it kicks in. The ELR is perfect for commuting and driving around town, and you don’t have to worry about range since it’s a hybrid. Drivers can go into Sport Mode for extra power at the cost of easier handling if they want to experience a faster zero-to-sixty. Besides what’s under the hood, the driver can choose from an assortment of technological add-ons that continue to create a safer ride, such as a rear cross traffic alert that eliminates the anxiety of backing out of difficult parking spaces. The ELR comes standard with the Cadillac User Experience (CUE) infotainment system and its features help build a seamless bridge between driver and car. One of the many specific perks of the CUE is that it allows drivers to send destinations from their phone directly to the infotainment screen, so there’s no need to enter the address by hand.

Long story short, the ELR is the choice for the environmentally minded who don’t want to sacrifice luxury or can’t make the switch to a purely electric car due to their lifestyle. Not only does the ELR deliver the Cadillac experience, it does so while lowering emissions and saving on fuel, a win-win for all involved. Although we do not currently have any of the Cadillac ELR models in stock, we invite you to come visit us at Arnie Bauer so that we can get you behind the wheel of any one of our brand new Cadillac, Buick or GMC’s. Like the ELR’s sci-fi modern design, it’s time to start making the future a reality for you.
