Rearview Cameras Standard for All Future Buicks
General Motors made the announcement recently that all 2015 Buick models will now come standard with rearview camera technology. This announcement comes after the brand sought and evaluated feedback given by Buick consumers.
Consumers voiced their opinions and named safety and technology at the top of their list of important considerations when it comes to owning a vehicle. This importance of safety is no surprise to us here at Arnie Bauer. We believe it is our duty to make sure each customer and passenger is safe while riding in one of our Buick vehicles.
Currently Buick vehicles already come standard with one of the most popular safety features available today, Onstar’s Automatic Crash Response. In the event of an accident, passengers will automatically be connected to emergency services the instant a crash is detected by the system. Even if the driver is incapacitated emergency responders are dispatched to the vehicles location thanks to GPS. Customers will eventually incur a fee for a continued OnStar subscription after a period of six months.
The Onstar system also has many other capabilities for drivers in addition to automatic crash response including stolen vehicle tracking, and navigation.
Buick has always put safety as a top priority, and adding the rearview camera as a standard for their fleet just reiterates that. “Rear backup cameras have become like power windows and air conditioning,” said senior analyst for Kelley Blue Book Karl Brauer adding “while they’re not standard on every car, yet, it’s rare to operate a new vehicle without them. The increased safety these cameras provide make them a must-have feature.”
Buick does offer additional safety features like Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Side Blind Zone Alert. These optional features are currently offered on every 2015 Buick, and in the future it is expected a lot of these features will become standard in the marketplace.
“We know our customers are very safety conscious,” said Buick and GMC U.S. vice president Duncan Aldred adding “The current Buick lineup holds many safety accolades, but we are always pushing to be at the forefront with our vehicles being among the safest available.”
